The foundation stone of Gyan Vihar was laid down in the month of Basant when fresh and bright leaves sprout on trees as nature seems to be reborn, on 19th February 1994 by the great academician and thinker Acharya Shri Purushottam Uttam. SGVU is a self-finance state University vide Suresh Gyan Vihar University Jaipur Act 2008 (Act no. 16 of 2008). University Grant Commission has released its approval for the establishment of SGVU and empowered to award degrees under section 22 of UGC Act 1956. The University operates under the guidance of Chancellor Sh. Sunil Sharma, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) B.V. Somasekhar and Chief Mentor Dr. Sudhanshu. University is Governed by Board of Management & Academic Council under the leadership of several learned academicians, experienced administrators & Deans supported by numerous offices.

SGVU (Suresh Gyan Vihar University) is an autonomous university founded by Govt. of Rajasthan Jaipur under Act No. 16 of 2008, passed in state Assembly of Rajasthan, giving it the status of 'State University'. The Vision of the university is to offer the opportunity for candidates to obtain knowledge in a variety of disciplines and to offer an educational foundation for a range of administrative, operational and management careers.
