About Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU)

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU or previously known as Kota Open University, renamed through a Gazette notification by the Government of Rajasthan on 21st September 2002) came into being in 1987 as a pioneering institution for open learning in Rajasthan. The idea of establishing an Open University in the State of Rajasthan has its origin in the observations of the UGC Committee under the Chairmanship of Late Prof. G. Rama Reddy which observed that “the distance system in Rajasthan is well established and has the potential of growing into a full-fledged Open University.” The establishment of VMOU (Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University) took place with the amalgamation of two institutes of correspondences courses viz. Institute of Correspondence Studies and Continuing Education Jaipur and (College of Correspondence Studies) Udaipur with a view to strengthen and achieve proper coordination among the scattered vast distance education resources and to serve the people of State a uniformly high-quality education.

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University Undergraduate Admission 2019

At the UG level, Vardhman Mahaveer Open University offers a number of courses under various specializations leading to a Bachelor’s degree in the concerned subject. The university currently offers BA (preparatory program and pass course), B.Com. (preparatory program and pass course), B.Sc (preparatory program and pass course), along with Bachelor of Journalism (regular and lateral), B.Lib.I.Sc, BBA., BCA., BSW.

• The course duration for the regular Undergraduate courses is 3 years whereas, the course duration for Bachelor of Journalism, B.Lib.I.Sc. and various other preparatory programs is 1 year.
• The duration of Bachelor of Journalism (Lateral Entry) course is 6 months.
• Admission to all the Undergraduate programs (except B.Ed) is done on the basis of the merit of the Students in their qualifying examination.
• In case of B.Ed, Students are required to appear for an entrance test organized by the university.

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University MBA Admission 2019

Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) Kota offers two-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree under three specializations namely Human Resource Management, Financial Management, and Marketing Management. Students with a graduate degree in any discipline are eligible to apply for the MBA course. Admission to the MBA course is subject to qualifying in the Management Entrance Test (MET) organized by VMOU or scores obtained in MAT/ CAT/ CMAT or any other recognized test during the last one year.

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University Postgraduate Admission 2019

Vardhman Mahaveer Open University offers various courses such as M.A., M.Sc., M.Com, M.J., M.Li.I.Sc, M.C.A., M.Sc., MSW and PG Diploma at the PG level.

The course duration for Masters in Journalism, Master’s in Library & Information Science, and the PG Diploma courses is one year.

All the other Postgraduate level courses are offered for a duration of two years.

MA course is offered in 14 different specializations, M.Sc. course is offered under six subjects and the PG Diploma is offered in seven specializations.

Admission to all the Postgraduate courses (except MBA) is based on the merit of the Students in the previous qualifying examinations.

No entrance test is organized for admission to the Postgraduate courses offered by VMOU.

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University Ph.D. Admission 2019

At the research level, the university offers the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree under 18 different specializations. For admission to Ph.D., Students should possess the Master’s degree in the related discipline. Admission to the Ph.D. courses is done on the basis of marks scored in the entrance test organized by the university followed by an interview round. Performances in both the rounds are taken into consideration along with the marks obtained by the Students in their previous qualifying examination for determination of the final merit list. A relaxation of 5% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree (relevant subject) will be given to the Students belonging to SC/ST categories of Rajasthan.

Interested and eligible Students can fill their application at VMOU from the official website www.vmou.ac.in in online mode only. There is no other mode of application will be accepted. Those who fill their application for entrance test on time they will be eligible to give entrance test as per schedule. Students are advised before applying online must ensure their eligibility criteria and other condition.

• Students can fill the application till 15th June for MBA.
• Offline application along with information brochure is available in the Regional Centres of the VMOU by paying the application fee.
• Aadhaar card is mandatory to fill the application.
• In the online application, Students have to upload scanned images, i.e. photograph, signature, date of birth certificate & eligibility certificate in a given format.
• Students keep the print out of the filled application form for future use.
